This is a fantastic place to start your visit to Tampere at. It gives you the best panoramic view in the city centre and is located right by the railway station, on top of the Solo Sokos Torni Hotel, the tallest hotel in Finland so far.
As the bar opens to a panoramic view, this is the place to plan your route for the day and see the location of different sights.
The entrance is free of charge, meaning you can come enjoy the view and take pictures with Tampere in the background. However, if you want to celebrate the experience with a drink, the bar has something good to offer. Ask them for a cocktail or mocktail made of typical Finnish ingredients. Or just go for any local beer they have. Coffee/tea and pastries are also available, soup lunch is served on weekdays.
By the way, “Moro” means “hello” in the local dialect. Say “Moro” with a strong “r” to anyone you want to greet here and they will answer you in Finnish no matter how foreign you look.
Hint 1: check out the WC here for one of the best toilet views you can ever get (I promise!)
Hint 2: as the bar is situated in the hotel, you can leave your bags in the luggage room. Ask a receptionist for this favour, smiling and telling them you’re going to the sky bar and want to have your hands free for a while. They never say no.
