Niagara art-house cinema is a perfect place for those who seek a non-mainstream cinema experience. The programme consists of carefully selected, critically acclaimed movies; all the screenings are in the original language with subtitles.
They don’t sell popcorn here, which is something I’m immensely grateful to this place for. If you are one of those who, like me, shrink at hearing the chewing sounds around you while enjoying a good movie, this is your place.
Instead of buckets of popcorn, you can have good and healthy food at the cinema’s own a-la carte cafe – Arthouse Cafe Kehräsaari. The cafe itself is a place worth checking out. I come here for a cup of coffee with the view over the rapids/river, to have good lunch on both weekdays and weekends and play games with friends. It’s nice that before the movie you can have some reasanobly priced food and wine right at the cinema. They serve, for example, salads, poke bowls, and soups. Come enjoy their DJ evenings or art exhibitions.
Niagara is located in a charming red-brick industrial area of Kehräsaari, with several little local handicraft and design boutiques and nice restaurants.
