I love exploring new neighborhoods and this little area is something I want to share with everyone. The residential area of Puu-Tammela (“Wood-Tammela”) is part of Tammela district and it is just adorable. It isn’t a huge place, but it’s totally worth seeing.
Puu-Tammela is easy to get around on foot or by bike. Even if Tammela is in the center, it has totally different vibes from what the other side of the railway station has. The feeling is more relaxed and easy-going, which makes the whole area perfect for the wanderer.
One of the most interesting spots in Puu-Tammela is Annikki Wooden Quarter which was under threat of demolition for years. Luckily the local community won and the house from the early 1900s is still standing there. Every second year Annikki Wooden Quarter has its own poetry festival. I have never attended it (yet!) but I bet the festival has an inspiring atmosphere!
