Head to the little park Pyykkimettä for one of the most iconic views of Tampere. This place overlooking lake Pyhäjärvi, with its little islands, is the most instagrammable in the city, with a 100% guarantee for a postcard picture in any weather and season! The two houses fitting inside your picture frame must be the most photographed in the whole of Tampere. One of the wooden buildings you can see here belonged to the famous Finnish poet Lauri Viita, born and raised in the Pispala disctrict.
The spot is located in Pispala, one of the most beautiful residential area sin Finland. This is a neighbourhood dotted with colorful wooden houses on top of the biggest gravel ridge in the world. A stroll around the narrow streets of Pispala is an attraction in itself.
Whenever I have visitors from abroad or a friend from other Finnish cities, we go there for pictures and good vibes. I like the bohemian spirit of this area, long wooden stairs going down to the lakeside, the photogenic colors of the houses, their gardens, and freely walking cats (you normally don’t see a freely walking cat on city streets in Finland). This place is absolutely beautiful all year round and #1 in my rank of selfie places in Tampere.
In order to get here, take a bus from the center to the address Pispalanaharju 15. Check the up to date timetables here.
