One of my favorite things in Tashkent is the communities you can discover based on common interests. Even though many of the more independent films don’t quite make it to cinemas in the city, there is still a chance to see the chef-d’oeuvres of world cinema.
You can easily find local cinema buffs at Sunduk Cafe each Friday. Weekly, at 19:00 the Cineclub Paradiso screens a film that is somehow significant in international cinema, often in the original language with Russian subtitles. You can keep up with announcements on their Instagram at the username cineclubparadiso. This is an opportunity to expand your experience of film and meet with other people who love cinema.
The cafe serves European food, drinks, and coffee with moderate prices. There are a few vegetarian options. It is possible to reserve a table to make sure you have a nice place to sit for the duration of the film.
