Opening a tour business in Georgia is one of the easiest things I have done. Obtaining a business license, getting a VAT number and opening a bank account took all of four hours. I bank at the Bank of Georgia and my branch in Freedom Sq has one of the loveliest interiors I have ever seen. It is a completely renovated art nouvaeu interior.
Tbilisi has an illustrious art nouveau past, though most is in need of repair. The building itself dates back to 1906. It is breathtaking inside. Walk upstairs and sit down in the waiting room and look up. The stained glass illuminates the entire area with pastel light. The ironwork through the room is dainty and flowery. It is easy to forget this is a bank and there are indeed security guards, so photos are not advised, but it is definitely worth a five-minute detour if you are in the area during banking hours.
