The central Saburtalo district of Tbilisi is packed with traffic, it’s a place where fellow Tbilisians experience the city life in its truest form: rush hour turned rush day, loud honks, shoppers and workers rushing back and forth. It is quite rare to find a place of peace and nature right in the center of Saburtalo, yet here it is: our little oasis, Sormoni restaurant.
From the outside, this place is surrounded by a household appliances store, a gas station, and a chunky fast-food restaurant, making you pessimistic until you enter. You go past the Shawarma smell, one step, and you are inside an actual oasis. A small inner yard is filled with so much greenery that you forget about the existence of traffic that’s literally a few meters away, you can’t even hear the noise. The restaurant also has a half-open space, creating a cozy atmosphere, whilst not breaking the contact with nature. The highlight from the menu must be the basque cheesecake, which makes even a non-cheesecake-lover fall in love with it.
Sormoni is a quick getaway, right across the shopping center City Mall Saburtalo. This is a great place to dive into meaningful conversations with your friends, especially if you’ve just finished shopping.
