This is the large mosaic panel called the “History of Transport”, which was created by Zurab Tsereteli. It was built on the façade of the Tbilisi Central auto-station in 1973. The building itself was designed by Ramaz Kiknadze, Vladimir Kurtishvili and Shota Kavlashvili. The façade is decorated with large glass windows. It is Modernist, Soviet architecture, typical of a former USSR building.
It was constructed with a pragmatic purpose. The accessible pedestrian bridge divides it into two parts: administrative and a hotel with a restaurant, and there is still bus service today. This is the bottom side where the mosaic with a transport theme is located. Unfortunately, not many people know about this beautiful mosaic and every day they pass it by without noticing this precious treasure.
While you are waiting for your departure, you can also take your time to have a nice meal and relax.
