Abulafia bakery is a must when you go to Jaffa. Opened in 1879 it’s practically a landmark, whenever I go to Jaffa I stop here even if it’s out of my way and grab a nostalgic bite that takes me back to my childhood.

There is nowhere to sit so you eat standing up or while walking around the market.

Abulafia is an old style bakery, they have great big brick ovens and are a white flour institution, you will not find whole grain there. They offer a variety of different pastries and strange looking, but super yummy sweet desserts.

I recommend the Sambusak, it is a white flour pastry with different fillings: potato, white cheese, cheese mix, pizza and more. I like the pizza but everything here is good.

Also the nougat, it’s a white candy, looks like a thin long rectangle, and definitely worth a taste. They also have baklava and flavored honey.
