The Carmel Market, as any other food market, is full with culinary options. My butcher is usually really busy (the best in TLV. leave a comment for details if you are here for a long vacation), so I always find myself going somewhere to satisfy my hunger in the meantime. My favorite, and usually the place I’ll take a guest to, is the Arepa’s.
Arepa’s serves Venezuelan food. There main pride, as you can probably guess, are their Arepas. I’m almost sure they have other dishes, but I’ve never tried any, so I can’t tell for sure.
The Arepa is made from corn dough (basically, a pita) and is filled with beef meat and cheese. The beef meat is cooked for hours with other ingredients, and with the cheese and the spicy sauces (chimichurri and jalapeño) it becomes a little piece of heaven in your mouth,
The staff is really friendly. Rumor has it they are actually from Venezuela, but I’m always too busy with the food to find out if it’s true.
