Igra Rama opened in 2018 a few meters away from the buzzing Carmel Market, but not many people would find it by chance. It used to be a cocktail bar that I visited frequently. Back then it already had a backyard, but they never managed to make as calm a green oasis out of it like the guys from Igra Rama have. Still: their backyard is not the reason to come — the food is the main attraction here!
They only serve local produce – fish and vegetables. They not only serve it, they go and pick the vegetables themselves twice a week outside of Tel Aviv – you can taste that! So the menu changes frequently due to what’s in season.
On Fridays they have an excellent brunch; try their roasted challah with poached egg, mozzarella & greens or the eggplant with tahini – and I usually don’t even like tahini, but I loved this dish! During the week they are only open for the evening and you can have a lovely dinner with some local Israeli wine.
