Back in the ’60s, this complex served as the first industrial area of Tel Aviv and was a prototype for other complexes around the country: 12 long four-storey “copy-paste” brutalist buildings with basic exterior designs. As time went by the complex couldn’t hold its purpose and got emptied and stopped being maintained.
A couple of years passed and the natural process of urban renewal started. Nowdays, more than a hundred artists, photographers and other young professionals share workshops and warehouses here. From time to time different cultural events take place inside Kiriyat HaMelacha.
But what I like the most about this complex is the unfathomable amount of street art, which differs from tiny stickers to huge roof-to-ground wall graffiti. Every time I am here, I find new pieces.
Please, keep in mind that it may be not the friendliest place after sun goes down.
