What a cool concept – a lending library for fashionable clothes made by young local designers and artists. Located in the vibrant Zeeheldenkwartier, I finally made it to Bij Priester and enjoyed browsing their collection. Fans of slow fashion and sustainable brands will enjoy what’s on offer at Bij Priester. It works like this: you can become a member from 20 euro a month and borrow fantastic items made by local designers, return your item within two weeks and pick something new for your next date ;-). You don even need to do the laundry. If you fall in love with an item so much, you can of course also buy it.
Even if you don’t want to borrow from the fashion library (which is the first of its kind in The Hague) it’s a great little shop to visit and see the work of local talent and designers. There are also other services; Bij Priester specialises in the repair of leather goods and altering or repairing clothing, there are monthly workshops working with recycled leather and clothing swap parties. The shop is currently open for walk-ins on Saturday and by appointment on Wed- Fri.
