Now, I might be a little bit biased about this high street, as I grew up here, so I have a lot of childhood memories roaming this street. We used to live right above the Kijk! Knoester. My dad used to have his shop with children’s clothing there. I used to get an apple or ice cream from the men selling fruit and veg in the green van across from us and I had to get my school books at Paagman. I played with my classmate who lived above her dad’s shop, Hollywood. She now owns this shop with her mum and has extended it.
The Fred is a well known shopping street in The Hague. Lots of expats live in the neighbourhood, so it’s very internationally orientated. Here, you’ll find most of the standard Dutch high street shops, but also smaller local business like ‘Kikke Spullen’ and my all-time favourite Paagman.
In between the shops there are some nice place to go for lunch, but you can also take the tram to Scheveningen and have some fish for lunch at Simonis.
