When the weather gets sunny and warm, the whole city of The Hague flocks to the beach. No wonder, it’s the best place to enjoy the weather and be outside. Or is it…? In 2018, a new restaurant opened in the Westbroekpark, a park just in between the city center and the beach. For years this beautiful green spot was overgrown and derelict. Now Greens in the Park is probably the best place to relax and enjoy a coffee or a meal on a sunny day.

The concept of Greens in the Park is environmental and people friendly. The restaurant is housed in a green house, with a roof full of solar panels. On the grounds are a sunny terrace and a vegetable garden. The company offers jobs to people who need some help getting on their feet. Sounds lovely? It is! Last week I took a walk with one of my friends and we ended up here for lunch. I absolutely recommend the sandwich with hummus and grilled eggplant.

If you don’t fancy walking to Greens in the Parks, it’s just off tramline 9 to the beach. And if you’re feeling adventurous: it can even be reached by boat!
