What do you get when two friends from Iceland and Estonia get together in The Hague? You get Ohmu Sushi, a creative collaboration resulting from Jona and Loore’s years of expertise in Japanese cuisine and their own modern twist. Between them they have more than 20 years of experience in Japanese cuisine, including work at NOBU (London) and Hosokawa (Amsterdam).
Ohmu started as a tiny pop-up place on the Frederik Hendriklaan and picked up quite a fanbase. As both ladies liked what they were doing (and they do it well!) they decided to keep going which is good news for serious sushi lovers. They moved their shop twice now and have landed in the lovely Reinekenstraat, also home to Colette’s bookshop and Zamcaffe. You can eat in, outside in their garden or take away.
If you go to the shop to order you will see how they prepare your order with care and focus. The ingredients are of a high quality and very fresh, although, as they explain on their website, this can mean that they have longer waiting times than other take-out places. I can recommend ordering ahead to guarantee a tasty meal, and if you can’t choose, then the Party Deluxe Box is a real treat.
