In the middle of The Hague Chinatown, in the city center, you’ll find Orientique Asian living. It’s the largest Oriental furniture shop in Europe and one of my favorite furniture- and gift shops. You imagine yourself somewhere in the heart of Southeast Asia from the moment you enter. And because Orientique’s product range seems unlimited, it is extremely hard not to get lost for a few hours while browsing through the showroom, wondering about legendary dragons, forbidden cities or gorgeous kimonos.
A dragon and a four-poster bed
After you walk in, but before you enter the actual store, you find yourself already in the most beautiful decorated hallway. Then you’ll pass the counter and next you are in the part of the shop where there are small gifts and tableware on display. At the right, you will discover the textile section with, among other things, pillowcases, dresses and bags. Really nice bags, actually. 😉
Further down the showroom, you’ll see a phenomenal collection of Asian furniture, all displayed in stylish living-room settings. In the middle of the ground floor, Orientique exhibits a wonderful antique Chinese statue of a carriage with horses (not for sale as far as I know.) You will also come across a genuine Chinese dragon somewhere.
There’s more furniture in the first floor. Somewhere at the back, you will even see a wooden four-poster bed. On the highest floor, you’ll find the items that are currently on sale.
Nice to know: Orientique delivers everywhere in Europe.
