Ranging from the areas Statenkwartier, Belgisch Park and Archipelbuurt, the Scheveningse Bosjes are pretty big and have a lot to offer. There is the miniature park Madurodam, and almost next to that, a lake (Waterpartij), which lends itself perfectly for iceskating in winter. There are several statues and monuments to commemorate historic people and events, plus the people who gave their lives during these events.
A big part of the park houses The Catshuis, initially known as Huis Sorgvliet; the official residence of the Prime Minister. He doesn’t actually live here but welcomes guests of the country and holds meeting here. So you could spot him on his bike.
Because it’s a big area, it’s a great place to go for a run or walk. Lots of people walk their dogs here too. We often take our kids to the big sand playground at the side of the park. It’s got a skate park next to it and, when the sun’s out, the ice cream man shows up, whoop whoop!
