As we are in the Netherlands, you might have noticed that the weather is not always on our side here. So whenever we are blessed enough to have a sunny day, all Dutchies take full advantage of it, as do I. Take a sunny Sunday morning for example; I like to go for a walk around the block (or two). I can assure you, that’s no punishment in a city with a rich history and beautiful architecture like The Hague. Nearly every neighbourhood is centred around either a dainty little square or small park.
In Duinoord for example, we have the Sweelinckplein; an almond-shaped park surrounded by impressive-looking properties from the late 19th century. Only recently did I learn that these properties have actually been listed as a national monument. And not only are the buildings impressive, the park at the Sweelinckplein is the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon or a little picnic!
