Zuid is where the locals go, and I apologise for not telling you earlier. But it hasn’t been a secret for a while now, I am sure more tourists have found their way to Zuid. And yet, there is still a very casual and authentic vibe. To get there, you just need to make a little more effort and go further than Scheveningen boulevard. Get on your rental bike or take bus 24 and walk through the dunes to this beach restaurant with good vibes. The service is good. The staff have impressive crowd control at peak times as they stay efficient and friendly. The food is good. The menu changes by season, but the last time I looked (this morning, did I already mention it’s like my second living room), the menu still includes the Really Good Green Salad and a really good Kimchi Tosti. The pizzas are also delicious.
Tips if you want to visit Zuid
*Definitely call ahead or go online to reserve a table during the summer season (ie. school holidays). I took the photo in the morning before it gets busy 😉
*Watch out for confident seagulls and ambitious crows. They will take anything they can, whether it’s the cookie with your coffee or fish and chips!
*Don’t forget your swimwear. Take a dip in the sea before breakfast or cocktails with your friends!
