Thessaloniki’s seafront, particularly near the White Tower, is packed with some not-so-tasteful street shops benches or even cafés. If you want to get away from it all, start walking eastbound towards the Concert Hall where you are bound to stop in front of Modbar café.
Modbar is a beautifully handcrafted, wooden, coffee bike! It is a tricycle, to be precise, that has been specially modified to fit a professional coffee machine and the rest of the bar paraphernalia.
Modbar looks good and it also… tastes good! The coffee is fantastic and so are the signature cocktails Sofia, the owner, blissfully prepares for us. I also love Modbar’s mocktails and the homemade lemonade in particular, though a classic Margarita has never failed me. The view is the best you may possible have, the crowd is fun, hip and happy and Modbar is certainly the absolute pet-friendly destination. During the weekends, guest DJs show up and create a party atmosphere with joyful funk, disco-house and electro tunes.
It is one of my favourite meeting points, but I also enjoy having a great coffee on my own and gazing at the sea. You should definitely pay a visit.
