Souvenir. One word, many sighs of disbelief. How many times did you cringe at the sight of kitsch, cheapy, horrible looking souvenirs your auntie brought you back from her trips with the local bingo club?

It doesn’t have to be this way and it certainly is not when über- talented graphic designer cum psychologist Kostas created Tilt! gift shop right in the heart of the Old (Upper) Town, in the Tsinari district.

Badges, magnets, t-shirts, maps, cotton bags and handmade wooden ships all made with the love and ingenuity of Mr. Tilt printed with his unique patterns showcasing all that is quintessentially Greek, such as the Cretan man, the donkeys, a mermaid etc. but without the tackiness and the stereotypical design of “Greek” themes.

My personal favourite though is the flexitilt audio postcard! What that is?

Sound designer Jedo captured moments of Greek life and created a soundscape of the Greek summer! This aural landscape is then engraved on a completely normal looking mr. Tilt! postcard but in fact it is a media carrier. Flexitilt postcards are playable on any conventional turntable and they are definitely the most imaginative souvenir anyone could think of and heads will turn upon listening to their… tune!

All the way up to Tilt! it is to get a souvenir to be remembered!
