Banksy Toronto

Banksy – Art in the PATH

As far as street artists go, Banksy has made quite a reputation for himself. I was thrilled when word got out a few years ago that he had done a few pieces around Toronto. I immediately organized with a friend to go out and see them for myself. It was a real photo opportunity! While some people appreciated his touch, right away one of his signature stencils was removed (Regretfully I didn’t catch it while it was up.)

More recently, one of the more industrial-style buildings that had one of his pieces was torn down to make way for yet another condo. While I initially was remiss, the landowner ended up saving it and reinstalling it in a public area of the new building. It’s nice to see that this was preserved, and I’m sure it’s worth quite a pretty penny nowadays. To be honest, it’s probably the best part of the whole building.
