If vintage clothes are your thing, a must-visit destination is Black Market. They have one of the widest selections in the city for pretty much anything you might be searching for, especially accessories. Every time I stop in, it’s hard to restrain myself and I often leave with several items.
In a large basement right on Queen, it has a nitty-gritty vibe that echoes the feel of the Toronto I grew up in, and a music section and barbershop to boot! If you’re into graphic tees, they have a decent selection of novelty graphics, in various sizes and colours.
The best part about it? Everything is $10 (or under for certain accessories) so you won’t need to spend a fortune on something that probably cost $ 15 when it was brand new – albeit that was likely 30 years ago. Black Market somehow takes out the pretentious feel of other vintage stores that sometimes can be overpriced. It’s really about getting down and dirty searching for that perfect find… which is what thrift shopping should be in its truest sense.
