Located close to King Station, I’ve probably walked past Design Exchange a few times not knowing the rich design exhibits that it holds. It is a non-profit museum for anything and everything design-related. One of my favourite past exhibits was called, ‘Politics of Fashion’. It displayed diverse pieces from Alexander McQueen, Diesel, Moschino and other artists. It represented fashion in a holistic and intriguing light by exploring different styles, bodies and emotions that stem from the fashion industry – not just aesthetics you may see on the runway.
Exhibits at Design Exchange are thought provoking and visceral. They showcase pieces that you probably won’t see at the AGO or the ROM. I try to go at least once a month or if there’s a new exhibit that piques my curiosity, or when I’m looking for an inspiration boost.
They also offer children’s workshops from time to time, as well as host events and competition. True to its mission, Design Exchange is a must-see hub for design innovation and heritage.
