Well the good sign is I’m writing this article – so I have escaped! EscapeZone was one of the first escape rooms to open in downtown Toronto, offering multiple themed escape rooms in which participants must complete complex puzzles in a real physical environment to eventually unlock the door and escape. At any given time there are four different room options ranging from casual to intermediate to hardcore. Having only attempted casual rooms myself and barely escaped, I can’t even imagine how difficult the hardcore rooms must be.
It is good to set aside about an hour or so for this activity – although during peak times of the day it is best to make a reservation. If you do end up having to wait, they do have a lounge area with a variety of board games to pass the time.
I’ve had a great time at EscapeZone with friends, family and on dates – it’s a great way to see how you react with your team under pressure and can be a great team-building exercise! And don’t worry, if you are absolutely stumped you won’t be trapped forever – each room comes with a number of hints and a count-down timer.
The prices are comparable to other escape rooms in the city, an adult ticket at $25, and a student at $22 – but be aware they are cash only!
Whether your challenge is to escape a zombie-infested hospital, a billiard room crime scene, or a pitch black room – I wish you luck!
