Pancho’s Bakery – Churro me up!

It was a humid summer day when I first came across Pancho’s Bakery on Augusta Avenue. You can smell the delicious churros frying meters away! Every churro I’ve eaten thereafter simply can’t compare…

You can get your churros filled with dulce de leche, chocolate, and strawberry syrup or plain with sugar and cinnamon. And yes, I have tried all of them with absolutely no shame. How can I not when they’re 3 for $5? Dulce de leche is by far my top choice of the three fillings they offer. The sugar and cinnamon packed on the hot churro straight from the fryer, while the warm dulce de leche filling is slowly overflowing with every bite… It’s a sweet indulgence I tend to get during not so good days and days I just need a little something to celebrate with.

But you know what the kicker is? Just when I thought Pancho’s Bakery was all I could find in that little spot, a food market at the back of the bakery serving homemade Latin American cuisine was added on! There’s not a lot of place to sit, or stand really, but the aroma from everything being cooked steps away from your nose will be enough to rally with the locals. I guess it’s true what they say, “good things come in small packages.”
