See that 3-foot wide glass-walled corner, where the barista is hard at work making espresso, steaming milk and preparing for the next customer? Welcome to The Coffee Lab – all 18 square feet of it.
When I first walked past The Coffee Lab, I did a double-take, as do many passers-by. After all, it’s not often you see an entire business set up in a display window. But as it turns out, you don’t need much space to make delicious (and carefully-sourced) coffee. I took my latte to go, but word is that if you order your espresso to stay, you’ll be served your cup on a marble slab with a gold-plated spoon, so you can savour it as the hustle and bustle of urban life in the city passes you by.
The Coffee Lab is on the east side of Spadina Ave, just south of Chinatown. Be sure to watch closely for it… for if you blink, you might miss it.
