Piazza XVIII Dicembre has seen a lot of changing in the last 2-3 years. A new modern railway station grew. A big restaurant ensemble opened and shut down in a year. Behind them the old station and a lot of empty rooms and walls.
The association “Il Cerchio e le Gocce” focuses on underground culture and graffiti art since 1999. They took part in “Murarte”, a graffiti project supported by the town council, aimed to present graffiti as a real form of art and not only ugly crew tagging.
This time they simply took a wall and decided to have it painted by different graffiti artists. I found out about this wonderful project one day during a stroll. I looked at it and I recognized the style. It was Mrfjiodor’s work. I spotted some tiny works around the city. Some cute pink elephants, running on the walls of Turin, and some stylized faces gazing from doors and electrical cabinets.
It’s like a Tibetan Mandala: one day you have the “making of”, the other one you can admire the work of art…and suddenly It’s repainted. It’s blank. And they let you wonder about the upcoming drawing.
I think it’s genius. They’re gently poking at your creative and curious side.
Meanwhile, the city is becoming more modern, prettier, more colorful. That’s revolution.
