A former foundry for bronze, aluminum and cast iron, Fonderie Limone was first founded in 1924 by Giuseppe Limone. Back then, A foundry like this had a lot of workers and employees, and it was a well known spot for decades. There was also a small village for workers to live in near by the factory.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of new big orders, at the end of the sixties the production slowed down and a successful foundry was turned into a wreck.
In 1997, as was happening to other former industrial buildings in town, renovation started.
Fonderie Limone is now a large center for theatrical productions: dance, drama, performancea and more. Many big names in theater and dance have performed here, such as Hotel modern, Sasha Waltz, Benjamin Millepied, Marco Paolini and many others. Within the complex there is also a props department and a workshop for theatrical productions.
Fonderie hosts two international festivals you should definitely attend if you are in town.
