At first I was a bit scared about going and trying to eat something vegan. I'm an omnivore but I have a nice relationship with vegetables and an awful one with fruit. But... here came one friend of mine, Eduardo. We shared some of our time volunteering in Croce Verde, on ambulances.
Then he turned his life upside down and inside out and became a great vegan (and raw) chef.
He opened a restaurant, "L'Orto già salsamentario", near Turin hills. Then, he recently opened this nice, cute bistrot/cafè.
You can find different kinds of cappuccinos and beverages, filled croissants, cakes, fresh juices.
But if you're in need of a vegan-appropriate place for lunch this is also the right spot. You can find a chalkboard with a daily menu and suggestions. But the team is open to illustrate for you everything you'd like to know or ask.
I was brave and confessed my omnivore-state to Eduardo and told him that I was also curious... so he helped me with a great slice of "Castagnaccio": chestnut and hazelnut cake with vegan chocolate sauce on top.
I was very pleased, not shocked by something I'm not accustomed to, but also surprised by the quality of the chocolate cream. Their ethical coffee is really delicious too.
I'll be brave, catch a friend and go to the very restaurant and be guided into this new cuisine.
Great place, great atmosphere, and a very brave and smiling chef.
