The Regional Assembly of Text is a cute stationery shop on Main, selling cards, notebooks, gifts, etc. I love the style of the shop, bright and minimalist, with an emphasis on more traditional materials; hand-drawn illustrations, typewriters and unbleached papers.

They sell t-shirts and onesies that you can customize by choosing your size and colour and then choosing from a catalogue of images, many of which are inspired by Canadian culture and wildlife. You can make your own buttons, and a variety of materials are provided. If you don’t have the urge to be creative, there are many tasteful pre-made buttons to choose from and you can even sign up you or a friend for the “One Button a Month Club”.

Another offering is the “Little Book of the Month Club” where you can subscribe to a year of strange, little books, delivered to your home. The shop has many “little books” and zines on sale and even a little reading room (think converted closet) where you can sit and peruse several racks full of them. There is even a free Letter Writing Club that meets once a month (all materials provided).

The area is popular for its unique shops and boutiques and this place is such an interesting, thought-provoking space – it’s definitely worth a visit.
