Population decrease in Venice is a sad and apparently unstoppable phenomenon. Nevertheless, when you need to find a good place where to sit and eat in Fondamenta degli Ormesini during the weekend’s nights out it seems the city is suddenly repopulated, and everyone is gathering in the same place!
Cafés, “osterie”, “cicheterie” and all sort of restaurants have been flourishing on this shore in the last few years, but Bagatela is still an outstanding landmark for nice aperitivos and dinners. When I walk through fascinating Cannaregio and I pass by Bagatela, I have a sudden craving for burgers, and I definitely can’t miss this place. Here you can find what are, for me, the best burgers in town, at a very reasonable price. Besides fresh meat and irresistible spicy sauces, Bagatela’s menu also offers wonderful vegetarian toasts, club-sandwiches and burgers. It goes without saying that classic cocktails, traditional drinks and many craft beers will also make the experience even happier. My favourite burger is called Megatron—just try it!
The ambience is a plus which pushes local people to frequent Bagatela with enthusiasm. The guys working there are really nice people, easy-going and funny. There’s rock music constantly in the air, and sometimes you can watch live footage projected on the wall. Last but not least, Bagatela is great for rainy days, as you can sit there drinking and eating while playing free board games.
