Canestrelli is a very special shop where you can find only one type of item, handcrafted mirrors, designed and produced entirely in Venezia. I find them very beautiful because they are original and unique pieces. They are convex mirrors, which belong to a tradition typical of northern Europe of the 16th century. I like the idea that these mirrors were also called witch’s mirrors, but they were actually mainly used by bankers. With their particular shape these mirrors are able to reflect a larger surface than conventional mirrors and allow a greater vision by covering areas otherwise hidden.
Each mirror has a frame that can be customized in agreement with the Canestrelli shop owner. The price of the mirrors is not cheap, but my advice is to still enter the shop to experience a true craftsmen and artist shop! The owner will tell you about the complex process to produce these mirrors and explain where he finds the necessary materials in a city like Venice.
