Although neighbouring Vienna’s very core, our third district for me had always been a place far off my personal routes through the city and therefore a mystery for a long time. This has changed since: having undertaken exploration walks along Landstraße and beyond, having read Ingeborg Bachmann’s Malina and having found an awesome hair-dresser in the area (check where to find Dirk here), I’ve become more familiar with this corner of my hometown. The discovery of Café Menta is one of many reasons to come back and level-up my local knowledge every once in a while.
This spot is simply easy-going: spacious but cosy, lively but without too much noise, it’s both suitable for extended brunching on Sundays as it is for having a birthday dinner or some cocktails to start the evening with – try their homemade vodka ice-tea! Thanks to its location, Café Menta is also perfect to relax after visiting Kunst Haus or a walk on Donaukanal. It’s simple: this spot shouldn’t be a blank space on the map of noteworthy places to hang out at when in Vienna.
