Okay, let us be honest. This is no secret spot or a place for solitude within the city. This is maybe one of the biggest festivals for contemporary dance worldwide. And that is why I love it: weeks of workshops, in- and outdoor performances, events, symposia, (due to Corona small) club nights! And hundreds of dancers from over the world, coming to Vienna to MOVE. You see them cruising through the city on their colourful bikes, at the Danube for a refreshing bath after the workshops or hanging out in parks, relaxing sore muscles.
But even if you neither feel like Fred Astaire or Rudolf Nurejew and you would never dare to book a workshop with some famous teacher: why not enjoy the vibrant atmosphere in front of Arsenal area with its historic buildings, why not sneak into one of the big halls or watch at some of the outdoor public moves, to see some great dancers rehearse and teach? Or attend some amazing performances of artists/choreographers like La La La Human Steps, Ultima Vez or local liquid loft. And if you wanna continue dancing into the night: there is a daily festival lounge at Kurhaus in the Stadtpark, with live gigs, great DJs – so sweat, move and groove!
