Well, if you are French, maybe this is not the first spot you are going to head to when visiting Vienna. But for us Viennese it is a grand new thing to have a little taste of Paris, Bordeaux or Marseille here in our city. Or our idea thereof…
Éclair, un petit déjeuner, foie gras d’oie to name a few – all to be found in a lovingly decorated café. This place used to be a traditional cornershop for hats and bags, and I guess also a drugstore, as you can still see the very old beautiful wooden shelves with the respective signs there. But now, when turning it into a café, the owners added a good modern mix of design when planning the interior.
This small coffeeshop just opened in autumn 2016, but you can already feel how happy people are about this place – from that same area, or visitors from nearby quarters, like myself. I really like the mix of people: students with their notebooks, sitting in one of the cosy window seats and having their coffee; families eating with their children at the big, long table in the middle of the room, or older women meeting their friends for a chat.
The quality of the food and the prices are amazing. My favourite is still the simple petit déjeuner: the homemade jam and bread are just too tasty. And another thing: the service is incredibly nice and friendly – not a thing you experience in many places in Vienna…
