Tempel is the place where I go with friends, when we really want to treat ourselves with great food – and when we have a little more money to spend…
So if you are into gourmet dining but don’t fancy a posh setting, this might be the place for you. Kind of hidden in a beautiful old backyard building (no big sign on the street!) you’ll find one of the best chefs in Vienna. The prices are quite reasonable for gourmet dining, especially if you come for lunch or the “early-bird offer” from 18:00 until 19:30.
The portions are good, I never go home hungry! There is a meat and fish menu to choose from. But if you are vegetarian like me, tell the chef; he does not mind making an individual variation for you. I love the great coffee and home-made pralines (though unluckily the pralines are sometimes already “eaten away”)!
Tempel also has a smokers area, and a very nice garden area for summer time – surprisingly relaxing for this kind of highly awarded restaurant! It might not be a place for students, but definitely one for the wine and food connoisseur who does not want to end up in a touristy place…
As this place is small and well-visited, it makes sense to do a reservation beforehand!
