Fest, fiesta, festival! It is Wiener Festwochen again! Ususally six weeks of grand art from all over the world, this year due to Corona it will be prolonged even until end of September. After months of culturall deprivation we can look forward to theatre plays, dance, concerts, performances – all happening in various locations in Vienna. Well-known spots like hall E and G in MuseumsQuartier, or compelety new locations like Brut Nordwest, or less unknown on the outskirts, like F23, I am also curious to visit soon!
Yes, I’m glad it’s again time for “Festwochen”, a festival which was established in 1951, so this year it is celebrating its 70ies birthday… !! Though I’ve been a fan of this famous festival since I moved to Vienna, this year I am very excited again! Many thrilling productions, presenting artists and ensembles from many different countries like Thailand or Iran, often showing their work in the original language. And of course also art from Austria and neighbouring Germany can be found, eg there will be performances of the great Austrian dancer and choreographer Philipp Gehmacher, plays of René Pollesch or pieces of the interesting artist Markus Schinwald! Can’t wait!
I hope that you are lucky to get tickets for one of the great performances, tickets are very sought after! But with “Mitten” there also will be a lot of interesting stuff going on where there is no entrance, sometimes in tucked away places! Check out the website – and see you around!
