I really like to skate. I think it’s a hereditary hobby. My grandpa used to skate, my mom loves to skate, my dad also skates. Even my husband and my kid learned how to skate. We are a skater family. I have many good memories from my childhood, when winters were cold and snowy and I used to skate outdoors with my mom or friends. I’ve had two memorable injuries while on skates. When I fell down really badly for the first time, it was my 6th birthday and half of my face was purple blue for weeks. The second incident happened when I was skating downhill with my classmate. I did not land very well on the ground after jumping the trampoline at the bottom of the hill. I still remember how it hurt. Anyways, I still skate, but I am more careful now.
There are two indoor skating rinks in Vilnius. Surprisingly, the one I like is in a shopping mall which I usually avoid visiting. It is simply too huge and too crowded. However, the skating rink there is just wonderful. There are also many people on it during the daytime. However, morning hours and late evening hours are the best times to spend an hour on ice. If you do not have your own skates, it is not a problem. You get them for free. Indeed it’s such a cool place to enjoy ice. The skating rink is open all year long.
