Špunka! It’s a magical word that brings joy to those who praise it. If you haven’t joined the cult – it‘s the best time to hop on the train. My first love will always rest with Špunka in Užupis, but it’s an extremely close competition with Špunka in Etmonų street. This specific place is quite out of the ordinary, because they started a sort of a social experiment where 4 beer-slash-food spots coexist in a close-by environment (simply said, it‘s the same building with a shared courtyard), but have zero beef with each other and even happily share customers between themselves. You might have heard about Monstro, Meatballs and Prohibicija, which are the other 3 besides Špunka.

However, back to Špunka: this place has become an institution that can‘t be escaped. If you drink beer and you like decent prices for much more than decent beers – subscribe! I always forget the tap count, but it‘s around 10+, with a lot of choices from bottles. Most of them from my beloved breweries: Dundulis, Labietis and Tanker. The rugged, woody interior will welcome anyone except the ones who despise having a good time. They organise some great music events as well. And in the end, if you want to switch things up, you can always go to visit the neighbours – get some meatballs, a fresh slice of pizza or have an alternative from the tap list!
