Bears in the centre of Praga? A run for bears for many years has been a symbol of this part of Warsaw. Located just at the Solidarności avenue, it was built in 1952 as a part of the Warsaw zoo which is situated on the other part of Park Praski. The bear run is free of charge and animals are greeted every day by passersby.
This kind of place provoked some incidents. In 2007, 25 year old Kamil Ch. aka “Bushman” was caught jumping inside. As he explained, he knew the bears very well because for one month he had been coming inside and giving mint candies to them.
The zoo management says the bears have spent all their life here and they are used to the noise, small run and people who feed them. Anyway, there are plans to close this place soon, so it’s the last moment to see this curiosity!
