A friend of mine recommended La Cocotte about 2 years ago. Not being a great fan of seafood, I did not visit at first. Then, to celebrate the Christmassy atmosphere I decided to give it a go in December 2015.
La Cocotte does not have a menu, the dishes are listed on a blackboard in the room and some of them will vanish through the evening, so the guests coming after 21:00 will only have a basic choice of dishes. To me it makes perfect sense as it means everything is made to order and fresh, fresh, fresh. We had mussels, foie gras, octopus and swordfish – all high above the restaurant standard. OK, maybe the prices are not that low, but then again… How often do you eat octopus or have a festive dinner to celebrate the oncoming weekend? Full dinner with dessert and wine cost me about 250PLN.
Homey atmosphere, French music, very nice and communicative waiters (a recommendation about the Flemish week and the possibility to order dishes off the menu – the mussels in cider were just perfect!) all added to a lovely festive experience.
They offer themed parties such as an oyster party or Beaujolais party. Check their FB page for details.
