In Warsaw we have quite a few beaches on the Vistula river. Romantyczna beach (romantyczna means romantic in Polish) is located in a kind of remote district called Wawer. I like this place because you don’t feel like you’re in the city there. Only the skyscrapers in the far distance remind you of that. This view also makes this place a nice spot to admire the sunset from.
During the summer weekends, there are many beach facilities offered there: barbecue, beach chairs, a volleyball pitch. There is also a spot to make a bonfire. You can cross the river on a ferry (actually a small wooden boat called Inna Bajka). There’s a ferry shuttle every Saturday and Sunday from June till September and it’s free of charge. You can get off on the other side on Zawady beach in Wilanów district (near Zaściankowa street).
You can reach Romantyczna beach by bus (bus stop Romantyczna), although it’s a perfect place for a bike trip too. You can even take the bike on the ferry.
