I must admit I have a personal connection to Tarabuk Bookstore & Café. It was my first job, straight out of high school. When I first walked into Tarabuk, I felt as if I had walked in to a good friends’ living room – comfy chairs and couches, pillows and little blankets, bursts of color and, most importantly, books upon books upon books. You can also find titles that you won’t find anywhere else (English books included)!
Tarabuk is the kind of place where you can curl up with a book, a good coffee and a piece of cake, just read all day! And feel right at home. Tarabuk is a family run business and you can feel it. Especially since the staff and the clients become part of the family too.
Oh, right! The coffee! Tarabuk offers very good coffees, a large variety of teas, fruit smoothies, eco-friendly soft drinks and juices, homemade cakes and ginger-heart-cookies (for just 50 groszy!). If you drop in at lunch time, you can always count on great vegetarian food: hearty soups or a piece of quiche served with tomato juice or ayran (a Turkish yoghurt drink). The many regular customers speak for themselves.
Tarabuk also organizes meetings with authors, discussions on philosophy, psychology, slideshows, mini-concerts and mini-exhibitions. And an extra treat: for each book bought (over 40 zł), you’re entitled to a free coffee or tea of your choice!
