Washingtonians love their tapas style and farm-to-table restaurants and Bar Pilar has created a menu that combines both.
Self-described as a gastropub, Bar Pilar offers a fun twist on typical American fare. Small plates restaurants are great because you get to sample many delicious things on the menu and it creates a family-style dining experience as you pass food between those you’re dining with.
Due to its farm-to-table nature, Bar Pilar’s menu is seasonal. During my last visit to the restaurant, I was able to enjoy the foie gras and brioche stuffed quail and some of the mushroom risotto. The quail was absolutely incredible. It was moist and full of flavor. The foie gras inside was rich and a great compliment for the brioche. My plate was beautiful and completely cleared at the end of our meal.
Bar Pilar is located in DC’s popular 14th street neighborhood. It’s been open for about a decade and manages to stay modern with a fresh take on food.
