We selected the best independent Washington D.C. blogs for 2018. Find our local favorites here in alphabetical order!
A Touch of Teal
A Touch of Teal is the passion project of Katie Urban, where she writes about the things she loves and documents her life. One of the subjects she happens to love is D.C.! Her stunning blog is filled with some great insider tips about places to go and eat both in D.C. as well as in Arlington (about a mile from D.C.). Especially check her out if you’re interested in wines!
The DCist was also featured in our 2016 article, and here they are again! They closed down last year, but as of June 2018, they are back with a vengeance. They cover anything that happens in the city, from new legislation to restaurant openings. Check out their site before your trip to not only find great tips on restaurants but also for cool events happening while you’re there!
Do DC with Kids
Do DC with Kids was started by Tina in 2016, only three months after she moved there. Her goal is to create a guide for both visitors as well as locals, that highlights a great many family-friendly small businesses, attractions, and activities in D.C. And so far, she is doing a pretty great job! Check out her visitor’s guide for some great places to visit with your children.
The HungryLobbyist was started by, you guessed it, a lobbyist! One with a passion for food that is. Originally just a D.C. restaurant blog, they have since included Politics, Fashion, DC Events and more to their repertoire. They have a satirical and ironic tone that gives their articles a certain edge. Still, their site is a must visit for the foodies among you, we guarantee that there is something for everyone!
The DC Darlings
The DC Darlings is run by best friends Molly and Katerina, who share both stories about fashion, beauty and their favorite spots in D.C. The blog itself has a beautiful and stylish layout, exactly as you would expect from a blog like this. Their D.C. tag is filled with great articles about D.C. nightlife, shopping, and other activities. Also, don’t forget to check out their beautiful Instagram page for beautiful shots from the city!
