Best Washington D.C. Blogs 2021 – Selected By Locals

We asked our own Washington D.C. bloggers about their favorite independent DC blogs & websites. Here’s a list of their tips in alphabetical order.

A Touch of Teal

A Touch of Teal is the passion project of Katie Urban, where she writes about the things she loves and documents her life. One of the subjects she happens to love is D.C.! Her stunning blog is filled with some great insider tips about places to go and eat both in D.C. as well as in Arlington (about a mile from D.C.).

The DCist covers anything that happens in the city, from new legislation to restaurant openings. Check out their site before your trip to not only find great tips on restaurants but also for cool events happening while you’re there!

Hungry Lobbyist

Hungry Lobbyist was started by, you guessed it, a lobbyist! One with a passion for food that is. Originally just a D.C. restaurant blog, they have since included Politics, Fashion, DC Events, and more to their repertoire. They have a satirical and ironic tone that gives their articles a certain edge.

The City Is Calling

The City Is Calling started in 2013 out of the personal need for a writing outlet and to explore as much as possible on a limited budget. Instead of focussing on traveling the world, Kelley focused on staycations. She started to explore every corner of DC and shared her journey on this blog!

The DC Darlings

The DC Darlings is run by best friends Molly and Katerina, who share both stories about fashion, beauty, and their favorite spots in D.C. The blog itself has a beautiful and stylish layout, exactly as you would expect from a blog like this. Their D.C. tag is filled with great articles about D.C. nightlife, shopping, and other activities. Also, don’t forget to check out their beautiful Instagram for beautiful shots from the city!
