Blind Whino is an incredibly cool art space located in South West DC. The art space is dedicated to showing local art and uplifting area artists. I, like many others I’m sure, discovered Blind Whino because of it’s can’t-miss facade. The art collective is located in the Historic Friendship Baptist Church built in the late 1800s. Today, the facade is splashed with color. The building itself is art.
Blind Whino offers lounge space, performance space, a courtyard, and gallery space. The collective gives artists a chance to share their work with the public and so what’s being showcased is subject to change more often than in the average art museum or gallery.
I was able to visit Blind Whino during the Hip-Hop Museum Pop-Event. The showcase offered tons of memorabilia and information on important figures and aspects of Hip-Hop.
Be sure to check out Blind Whino’s event calendar when planning your visit. It is adjacent to the Navy Yard neighborhood and the Waterfront neighborhood so you have the option to experience some art and culture followed up with plenty of restaurant options.
