The first time I read about Calico I was incredibly excited to check the restaurant out. The pictures of the cool outdoor space combined with a menu of many things I love (hello, lobster mac and cheese) made Calico love at first sight.
You can find Calico in Blagden Alley which only lends to its charm. I could best describe Calico as the secret-garden-themed backyard I’ve always dreamed of. The patio takes up about half of the space and is decorated with string lights and vines and furnished with picnic tables. The eye-catcher of the patio is the “bird cage,” a metal open-air enclosure decorated with ivy and more string lights.
Inside, you will find more picnic tables or a spot at the bar where you can enjoy one of Calico’s adult juice pouches. These delicious drinks are refreshing and incredibly cute, to the say the least. I recommend the Blagden Rose which includes vodka, passion fruit, pineapple, and cranberry juices.
Calico’s food menu changes seasonally but I highly recommend the ribs if you go when they’re on the menu. The food can be described as high-end backyard fare (read: barbecue) so prepare yourself for a deliciously hearty meal when you head to Calico.
