Consider it an absolute must to visit the Capital One Arena during your visit to DC, especially if the Capitals are playing.
The Washington Capitals became Stanley Cup Champions in 2018 and the city went wild. Hundreds of people stood outside of the Arena just to watch the final game on the giant screens and the streets were flooded with red, the team’s color. The weeks following consisted of a celebration tour around the DC area and many lips grazed the Stanley Cup itself.
On game day, be sure to wear red or grab a jersey at the arena or any of the shops in Chinatown by the arena. I’m not the biggest sports fan but I do love going to games. The atmosphere at the Capitol One Arena is incredible. When the players have downtime, prizes are given out and interactive music is played so there’s never a dull moment.
Honestly, one of my favorite parts of the games are when they send the little-league hockey players out onto the ice to play around. It’s a really cute moment during the game and the entire crowd gushes over them.
Tickets to Capitals games start at $58, alcoholic beverages start at $10, and Capital One members enjoy a 10% discount on food, beverages, and tickets.
